On Saturday, September 3, Sylvia Burnside, President of the Arts Council sent the following email to our members and others on our mail list.
Dear artists, supporters, and friends,
As the song implies, "breaking up is hard to do." I have been working, with others, to establish this organization for a number of years now, but it is time for me to move on, and to leave you to step up and help out. My husband of 55 years, and I are moving shortly to Colorado to be closer to our family for the later years of our lives. I cannot lead you, but I will be a staunch follower, even from out of state.
I would encourage all of you to reach out, in your art, in your support, and in your friendship towards this fledgling organization. Those who remain on the Board would appreciate your help. There is much you can do, even if you can devote only a limited amount of time.
I have enjoyed meeting you all in person and in your work. Thanks for all you have given, and will give in the years to come.

You have brought meaningful change, hope and art to the lives of Arizona Skyline clients and staff and we Love You and Thank You with all our hearts.
ReplyDeleteI thank you for all you did to try to get it up and running. I hope you two have a safe move to Colorado. We just visited this summer, and I almost didn't want to come home.
ReplyDeleteKeep in touch!
I wish you the best of luck in you "later years". You have put a lot of hours into your organization and I hope all the members feel as grateful to you as I do.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes
Thanks for everything and best wishes in your move.
ReplyDeleteSylvia,
ReplyDeleteThanks for all you do and all you've done. Thanks for being such an encouragement.
Best to you and Dick.
Sylvia: I am happy for you to be going near family but so sad for our area. We have been very weak in the arts in our area and you brought us closer to having performing arts and other art to the valley. I appreciate all the hard work you have done. Enjoy yourself in Colorado, what a beautiful state.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your hard work. Hope you enjoy Colorado.
ReplyDeleteYou have done wonders here in this little area... and will be missed greatly. I hope it continues to flourish (and I think it will) with those left behind with all that information and instruction. I could not be a hands on helper... but, an appreciative watcher of the growth of the organization... we all thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteSylvia- I heard rumors about this, but hoped it wasn't true.. Alas I guess it is.. While you will be missed greatly, we understand what has compelled your departure and we appreciate your decision to look out for your families best interest. We hope you have time to see us before you leave, but also understand if you are not able.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a pleasure getting to know you personally over the last few years! We hope that you will stay in touch!!
Wishing you happiness!
Love,
I wish Sylvia all the best. In Colo.
ReplyDeleteGood luck in Colorado and enjoy the beautiful weather!!!
ReplyDeleteJim and I wish you the best in your move. I hope that wherever it is in Colorado you are moving, it is an artistic community.
ReplyDeleteWe are sorry to see you leave. However, I am from the Colo mtns., & miss them dearly (along with my grand kids), so I understand the pull you are experiencing. Where are you moving to?
ReplyDeleteYou have been a great positive influence in the City & we thank you for all the good you have done.
