SCAM Alert

Rebecca Dahlke, President of the Huachuca Art Association sent this email with a SCAM alert to artists and art associations.

There appears to be a new scam rolling through the internet targeting artists who sell their work through their website and art associations that teach art.  The sender purports to be interested in art classes in your “area” because they will be bringing a group of people from Europe.  Or they contact you because they want to know if you have any art priced between $400-$700.  When you answer, they tell you that they are a “collector” in Europe.  The e-mails have just enough information to be enticing to artists anxious to sell their work; however, please note the poor English, the lack of concrete information about their “group” or who they are.  These e-mails are simply a scam in order to defraud you or your organization of money.  Best advice?  Do not respond and they will go onto the next victim... but not [one of us] if we’re informed and ready for them.
